Infrastructure Project Launch: New Classroom Block at Saint Joseph's College Sasse

SOBA BMC officially launched construction of a new six-classroom block at Saint Joseph's College Sasse, representing an investment of over 25 million FCFA in the college's future.

On Saturday, 7th September 2024, the SOBA Buea Chapter officially launched the construction of a new six-classroom block at Saint Joseph's College Sasse. The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Chapter President Paul Nkemdirim, in the presence of the College Principal, representatives of the Mill Hill Missionaries, and a large contingent of SOBA BMC members and well-wishers.

The project, budgeted at 26.5 million FCFA, will provide six modern, well-ventilated classrooms equipped with smart boards, tiered seating, and reliable electrical installations. The new block is intended to alleviate the severe classroom shortage at the college, which has seen student enrollment grow by over 40% in the past decade.

Fundraising for the project was driven primarily by SOBA BMC's 2023 Gala Dinner, which raised 18 million FCFA, supplemented by individual member contributions and a grant from the national SOBA body. Construction is expected to be completed by June 2025.

The College Principal expressed the school community's profound gratitude to SOBA BMC, describing the project as a landmark investment that will transform the teaching and learning environment for generations of Sobans to come.
