The rules governing your use of the SOBA BMC website and services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the website located at soba-bmc.com (the "Website"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Website.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, members, subscribers, and others who access or use the Website, including those who submit content, place orders, or make donations.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. About SOBA BMC

The Website is operated by the Sasse Old Boys Association (SOBA), Buea Chapter ("SOBA BMC", "we", "us", or "our"), a non-profit alumni association of Saint Joseph's College Sasse, registered and operating in Buea, South West Region, Cameroon.

The Website serves as an information and communication platform for the association and its members, providing access to news, events, projects, a shop, donation facility, and other content related to the association and Saint Joseph's College Sasse.

3. Use of the Website

3.1 Permitted Use

You may use the Website for lawful purposes consistent with these Terms. Permitted uses include:

  • Browsing association news, events, and project updates
  • Subscribing to the newsletter
  • Submitting comments on news articles (subject to moderation)
  • Contacting the association via the contact form
  • Purchasing products from the shop
  • Making voluntary donations to support association activities

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

4.1 Comments

Registered visitors may submit comments on news articles. All comments are subject to moderation and will only be published at our discretion. We reserve the right to refuse, edit, or remove any comment without notice if it violates these Terms or is otherwise deemed inappropriate.

4.2 Content Ownership and Licence

By submitting a comment or any other content to the Website, you grant SOBA BMC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use, publish, reproduce, and display that content in connection with the Website and the association's communications.

You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to submit the content, and that your submission does not infringe the intellectual property rights or privacy of any third party.

4.3 Contact Form and Correspondence

Messages submitted via the contact form are treated as private correspondence. We will not publish the content of your message without your consent. We aim to respond to enquiries within 5 business days.

5. Membership

SOBA BMC membership is open to old students of Saint Joseph's College Sasse (formerly known as Saint Joseph's College Sasse, operated by the Mill Hill Missionaries and later the Archdiocese of Buea). Membership is governed by the association's Constitution and by-laws, which take precedence over these Terms in matters of membership rights and obligations.

Displaying member profiles on this Website does not constitute a legal or contractual relationship between SOBA BMC and the member beyond what is established by the association's governing documents.

6. Shop and Orders

6.1 Product Listings

Products listed in the SOBA BMC shop are offered subject to availability. We reserve the right to modify, discontinue, or remove products at any time without notice. Product descriptions are provided in good faith; we do not guarantee that descriptions are complete, accurate, or current.

6.2 Placing an Order

Submitting an order form constitutes an offer to purchase. An order is only confirmed upon receipt of a confirmation from SOBA BMC by email. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, including after confirmation, in the event of pricing errors, stock unavailability, or suspected fraudulent activity.

6.3 Prices

All prices are displayed in CFA Francs (FCFA) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Delivery charges, if applicable, will be communicated at the time of order.

6.4 Payment

Payment terms and methods will be communicated upon order confirmation. SOBA BMC does not store payment card details. Any payment processing is handled by authorised payment service providers.

6.5 Returns and Refunds

As a non-profit association, most shop items are association merchandise. If you receive a defective or incorrect item, please contact us within 7 days of receipt. Refunds or replacements are at the discretion of SOBA BMC and are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

7. Donations

Donations made through this Website are voluntary contributions to support the activities and projects of SOBA BMC. By making a donation, you confirm that:

  • You are the authorised holder of the payment method used
  • The donation is made freely and without expectation of goods or services in return (except where a specific fundraising arrangement states otherwise)
  • You are of legal age to make financial transactions in your jurisdiction

All donations are used in furtherance of SOBA BMC's non-profit objectives. Donation records are maintained for financial transparency. Donations are generally non-refundable except in cases of proven technical error. To request a refund, contact us within 48 hours of the transaction.

SOBA BMC is not liable for any tax implications arising from your donation. We recommend consulting a tax advisor regarding the deductibility of charitable donations in your jurisdiction.

8. Newsletter and Communications

By subscribing to the SOBA BMC newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails about association news, events, and activities. Each newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. You may also unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at info@soba-bmc.com.

We will not use your email address for commercial marketing purposes or share it with third parties for marketing.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Content

All content on this Website — including text, graphics, photographs, logos, icons, audio, video, data compilations, and software — is the property of SOBA BMC or its content licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9.2 Permitted Use of Our Content

You may view, download, and print content from this Website for your personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not modify the content and retain all copyright and attribution notices. Any other use — including reproduction, distribution, adaptation, or publication for commercial purposes — requires prior written permission from SOBA BMC.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Buea, South West Region, Cameroon, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

15. Dispute Resolution

We encourage you to contact us in the first instance to resolve any dispute informally. Most concerns can be resolved quickly by contacting us at info@soba-bmc.com.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, the parties agree to attempt mediation before resorting to litigation. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be deemed severed from these Terms without affecting the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SOBA BMC with respect to your use of the Website, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, whether electronic, oral, or written.
