Welcome Back Reunion 2024: Sobans Reconnect at Start of New Academic Year

On Sunday, 22nd September 2024, the SOBA Buea Chapter hosted its annual Welcome Back Reunion at Saint Joseph's College Sasse, marking the start of the 2024/2025 academic year with warmth, brotherhood, and a renewed commitment to supporting the college community.

The event welcomed the 285 new Form One students entering the college for the first time, alongside returning students and a delegation of SOBA BMC alumni. Chapter President Paul Nkemdirim addressed the new entrants, reminding them of the proud traditions they were now joining and the lifelong brotherhood that awaited them as Sobans.

The chapter presented the college with a donation of educational materials including laboratory equipment, sporting goods, and an updated collection of reference books for the library — gifts totaling 1.8 million FCFA in value.

A guided tour of the campus allowed alumni to reconnect with familiar spaces and see firsthand the improvements made through SOBA BMC's recent infrastructure investments. Many alumni were visibly moved by the sight of the newly renovated dormitory block and the construction works underway on the new classroom building.

The reunion concluded with a shared meal in the college grounds, accompanied by songs, laughter, and the kind of easy camaraderie that only a Soban gathering can produce.
